Account Deletion

Overview

You have two options if you want to leave Jortion:

• •Deactivate your account temporarily (your data is preserved)
• •Delete your account (your account is marked as deleted with a timestamp)

Account Deactivation

Deactivating your account temporarily hides your profile and content from other users. Your data is preserved and you can reactivate your account by logging in again.

To deactivate your account:

1. 1.Go to Settings → Your Account
2. 2.Click "Deactivate account"
3. 3.Follow the confirmation steps

While deactivated, your profile and content will not be visible to other users. You can reactivate at any time by signing in.

Account Deletion

Deleting your account marks your account as deleted with a timestamp and signs you out. Your account will no longer be accessible. This action cannot be undone.

To delete your account:

1. 1.Go to Settings → Your Account
2. 2.Click "Delete account"
3. 3.Review the information about what will be deleted
4. 4.Provide explicit confirmation by typing "DELETE"
5. 5.Confirm the deletion

Warning: This action is permanent. You will not be able to recover your account after deletion. While your account is marked as deleted, some information may be retained as described below.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

When you delete your account, the following occurs:

• •Your account is marked as deleted with a timestamp and you are signed out
• •Your profile becomes inaccessible and is hidden from other users
• •Your uploaded avatar and banner files are removed from storage

The current deletion flow does not automatically remove public posts, replies, reposts, likes, bookmarks, follow relationships, direct messages, conversation metadata, or settings and preferences. These records may remain in our systems because they involve or may be visible to other users and are retained where reasonably necessary and legally permitted or required. See the "What Is Retained" section and our Privacy Policy for more information.

What Is Retained

When your account is deleted, it is marked with a deletion timestamp in our database. Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary and legally permitted or required for:

• •Security and fraud prevention
• •Moderation records and reports
• •Legal obligations and compliance
• •Dispute resolution
• •Enforcement of platform rules
• •Audit logs for security purposes
• •Backups
• •Anonymized or aggregated data that does not identify you personally

Retention is subject to applicable law and our actual retention practices. See our Privacy Policy for more information about data retention.

Export Your Data

Before deleting your account, you may want to export your data. This allows you to keep a copy of your information.

To export your data:

1. 1.Go to Settings → Your Account
2. 2.Click "Download Your Data"
3. 3.A ZIP file will be generated with your data

The export includes your account information, profile data, statistics, privacy settings, bookmarks, and conversation metadata. For security and privacy reasons, the export intentionally excludes message content, internal database IDs, and direct media URLs.

Recovery

Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered. You will need to create a new account if you wish to use Jortion again in the future.

The deletion timestamp and retained records are not accessible to you and cannot be used to restore your account.
